Super Eagles Eligible Midfielder Wins AC Milan Goal of the Month

Kevin Zeroli, a midfielder of Nigerian descent and Italy U20 international, has claimed AC Milan's Goal of the Month award for October 2024. This recognition comes after his stunning overhead kick in a 2-0 victory over AC Perugia during a Serie C - Girone B match. The goal, which came in the 27th minute after the goalkeeper deflected the ball out, showcased Zeroli’s athletic prowess and technique.

Zeroli, who captains the AC Milan Futuro team, outshone competition from notable first team players including Samuel Chukwueze, Christian Pulisic, and Tijjani Reijnders. Chukwueze’s nomination was for his decisive strike against Udinese, while Pulisic and Reijnders were recognised for their contributions in a Champions League win against Club Brugge.

Born in Busto Arsizio in 2005 to an Italian father and a Nigerian mother, Zeroli made his Serie A debut for Milan on December 30, 2023, against US Sassuolo. He has since accumulated four appearances in Italy’s top division. Despite being provisionally cap-tied to Italy, Zeroli remains eligible for the Super Eagles, providing future potential for Nigeria’s national team. His contract with AC Milan extends until the 2027-2028 season.

Editorial

Kevin Zeroli’s achievement in winning AC Milan’s Goal of the Month is a testament to the emerging influence of young, talented players of African descent in European football. His standout performance not only underscores his skill but also signals the potential boost he could offer to Nigeria’s Super Eagles if he chooses to represent them at the senior level.
