Elijah Adebayo Sets Sights on Super Eagles Debut

Elijah Adebayo, the Luton Town striker, has expressed his eagerness to don the Super Eagles jersey, despite the stiff competition for places in Nigeria's attack. Facing potential rivalry from established forwards like Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, and Terem Moffi, Adebayo remains confident in his ability to contribute to the three-time African champions.

In an interview, Adebayo shared his deep connection to Nigeria, I am proud to be Nigerian and I would love to play for Nigeria, he stated. Highlighting his familial ties to the country, he added, My mum was born in Nigeria before she came here to England, I went back to Nigeria when I was young and I am looking to go back there again, my grandma lives in Nigeria. It will be a very proud day for my mum when I play for Nigeria as well.

In his debut Premier League season, the 26 year old has made a significant impact, scoring nine goals in 23 appearances. His aspirations to play for Nigeria come at a time when his teammate and fellow Nigerian, Gabriel Osho, had to withdraw from the Super Eagles squad for the friendlies against Ghana and Mali due to injury.

Luton Town's position just a point above the relegation zone, following Nottingham Forest's four point deduction for financial fair play infringements, adds another layer of challenge for Adebayo as he continues to prove his worth both at the club and international levels.
