The manager of betting firm Bet365 was paid more than ₤ 200m in just one year, which is one of the most significant salaries ever granted in the UK.
The highest paid director of Bet365 Group, believed to be creator Denise Coates, made an income of ₤ 213.4 m in the year to March 2022.
She was also entitled to at least half of ₤ 100m in dividends, despite a fall in earnings.
Bet365 did not right away respond to the BBC's request for remark.
But project groups such as the High Pay Centre struck out at the announcement, arguing it worked as a tip that "excessive [money] is going to too few individuals" in the UK economy.
Its spokesperson Andrew Speke stated: "It reveals if the government wished to provide higher support to those struggling and increase the pay of striking public sector workers facing genuine wage cuts, increasing tax on high earnings and wealth would be among the most reliable methods of funding this."
Labour MP Carolyn Harris, who co-chairs a cross-party parliamentary group taking a look at gambling-related harm, stated that losses made by users as rates are rising "are paying for the substantial incomes of gambling managers".
She contacted the federal government to bring forward its white paper on gaming and upgrade laws that have actually been in location for years.
Ms Coates established the Bet365 website in a portable structure in Stoke-on-Trent more than 20 years ago. She is believed to be among Britain's richest ladies and among the best-paid employers on the planet.
After training as an accounting professional she helped construct the group into one of the biggest online gambling business from her daddy's bookmaking service. Her sibling is also co-chief executive.
