Top European scouts land in Ijebu Ode for mega scouting tournament
Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, is set to host an elite gathering of European football scouts and club representatives as the Best Talent Football Club organizes a mega scouting tournament aimed at unearthing Nigeria’s brightest football prospects.
Building on the success of last year’s event at the University of Ibadan Sports Complex, which saw several Nigerian players secure opportunities in Europe, this year’s edition will take place at the Dipo Dina International Stadium from Tuesday, March 4th, to Saturday, March 8th, 2025.
Scouts from Italy and other European nations have already arrived to observe the Best Talent Scouting Programme, where 12 teams will compete for a chance to impress top international recruiters. The participating teams include Best Talent FC, Ikosi FC, Adamimogo FC, Dominion Hotspur, Victory FC, Utility Sports FC, Obas FC, Hephzibah SC, K Zeez FC, Seamorow FC, D Shack FA, and Utmost FC.
The tournament’s opening fixtures will see Best Talent FC take on Ikosi FC, followed by Adamimogo FC vs. Dominion Hotspur. Other matchups include Victory FC vs. Utility Sports FC, Obas FC vs. Hephzibah SC, K Zeez FC vs. Seamorow FC, and D Shack FA vs. Utmost FC.
According to Sikiru Ibrahim, the coordinator of the scouting program, the invited clubs primarily consist of youth teams and third-division sides in Nigeria with a strong history of competitive football.
The General Manager of Best Talent Football Club emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, We have organized similar scouting events before, and the success has encouraged us to do more. This initiative provides a realistic pathway for talented Nigerian players to transition into European football.
